Healing Home Group was born from lived experience. In April 2024, our founder, Corey Halstead, survived a life-threatening car fire that left him with burns over 50% of his body. After months of hospitalization, surgeries, and intense physical and emotional pain, he was finally discharged — but there was no clear next step.
There were no trauma-informed homes.
No places designed for healing outside the hospital.
No bridge between survival and the life that follows.
That gap inspired a vision: a peaceful, supportive space where burn survivors could recover with dignity, care, and community. From that spark, Healing Home Group was created — to be a sanctuary where survivors can rest, rebuild, and rise.
To provide compassionate transitional housing, post-burn recovery services, and emotional support for adult burn survivors and their families following hospital discharge.
To build a nationwide network of Healing Homes — trauma-informed, family-inclusive spaces that empower survivors to rest, rebuild, and rise toward long-term independence and wellness.
Healing Home Group is led by a compassionate team of survivors, caregivers, medical professionals, mental health advocates, and nonprofit leaders — all united by a mission to provide holistic burn survivor care. We are actively building our advisory board and professional network to serve more survivors with excellence and empathy.
We will always lead with love.
We will never turn away from pain.
We will meet survivors where they are and walk beside them.
Our doors and hearts are open to every survivor and their family. We are committed to transparency, ethical stewardship, and an unshakable belief in the human spirit.
